Personal Appearance by: Designer, Charles Bunstine of Anna Maier
Anna Maier was founded over two decades ago. The business was originally built as a couture bridal house. The hallmark of the house has always been luxury in all aspects of manufacture and design. While the majority of gowns created by the company were for brides, throughout the twenty-one year history, everything it made in white, it also made in color.
Today, Anna Maier may be the only couture bridal and evening business remaining in the United States. Certainly there remain designers and dressmakers that offer individual client service, but as an international business, Anna Maier may now stand alone. Couture make and approach to servicing the client is at Anna Maier’s foundation. It simply cannot, nor could it choose to, do anything else. Even with the introduction of evening made to sizes for its retailers, Anna Maier still cuts and makes these gowns in its atelier in New York as if it were making them to the bodylines of an individual client. For the last fifteen years Anna Maier’s business life has been, and remains, under the direction of Charles W. Bunstine
Mr. Bunstine has spent his lifetime directing, developing and contributing to some of the fashion industry's most notable companies. Anna Maier and her husband were master tailors. Her roots are found in the Alsace-Lorraine provinces of northeastern France. Her creative spirit has endured more than a century and is now expressed in the collections of Anna Maier Couture. Anna is at the root of Mr. Bunstine's apparel and design lineage; she was his great grandmother.
